The Prevent Suicide New Jersey (PSNJ) website portal, is a completely free and comprehensive resource for suicide prevention in New Jersey, PreventSuicideNJ.org. This resource is for youth, parents/caregivers, educators, health professionals, and anyone interested in helping create a suicide-free New Jersey.
The website features resources for suicide prevention, online training, and webinars on mental health, and the Events Page has events and programs across New Jersey pertaining to suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Organizations can submit local resources and/or events open to the community.
Online trainings and webinars are available to the general public, school staff, and health professionals. Trainings available are Asking Suicide Questions, Safe Messaging, Warning Signs, and Debunking Suicide Myths. We also have our Counseling on Access to Lethal Means training. These are free of cost and certificates are granted when completing a course.
PSNJ also offers youth programs including an active youth board called the Youth Planning Committee, bi-annual Suicide Prevention Youth Summits, and a social media campaign. Follow PSNJ on instagram: @preventsuicidenj
The Campaign Toolkit features free materials, posters, and content to download for social media, schools, and organizations.
This program is funded by the New Jersey Department of Health, and the SAMHSA Garrett Lee Smith State/Tribal Youth Suicide Prevention (GLS) and Early Intervention Grant Program.
