Melissa Chalme - Special Education Advocate

As a dedicated Special Education Advocate and IEP Coach with a Master of Science in Education from St. Joseph’s University and 14 years of experience as a special education teacher, I partner with families to ensure their child receives the services, supports, and educational opportunities they deserve. I specialize in supporting students with multiple disabilities, autism, and complex learning needs, but work with families across a wide range of educational challenges. I am also a proud member of the Master IEP Coach® Network, bringing nationally recognized training and resources to the families I serve. My approach is both professional and compassionate—grounded in a deep understanding of special education law, individualized supports, and the realities of navigating school systems.

  • Document Review
Careful analysis of IEPs, 504 Plans, evaluations, and school correspondence to identify strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Meeting Support & Attendance
Guidance before, during, and after eligibility, evaluation, IEP, and 504 meetings, including in-person or virtual attendance to ensure your voice is heard.
  • Parent Coaching
One-on-one coaching to help you understand the special education process, build advocacy skills, and feel confident in collaborating with your child’s school team.
  • Free 20-Minute Consultation
An opportunity to discuss your concerns, learn about my process, and explore how I can support your family.

I believe every child deserves an educational program that recognizes their unique strengths and meets their individual needs. By combining my knowledge of special education with a collaborative, family-centered approach, I empower parents to make informed decisions and advocate effectively for their children.

Whether you are preparing for your first IEP meeting, feeling overwhelmed by complex evaluations, or seeking an experienced partner to guide you through the process, I am here to help you navigate each step with clarity and confidence.
