FRIDAY IS TIE DAY (FITD)

Friday Is Tie Day, Inc. (FITD) is incorporated as a nonprofit organization in New Jersey with federal 501 c3 founded by Darrell Edmonds, MS in May 2013.  The mission of FITD is to empower young and adult males with the skills to improve life outcomes.  This will ultimately make better son, brothers, and fathers.  We empower young men through mentoring.  The Friday Is Tie Day teen movement is geared towards young men in grades 8-12.  So much of popular culture teaches our young people to be rude, arrogant, and disrespectful. It is our intention to "buck the culture" and start something new (or revive something old).  We encourage teens in any school to start wearing ties to school on Friday. For one day a week, they will make a deliberate effort to not only dress like gentlemen but to also act like gentlemen. We anticipate that these trend setting young men will have a positive impact on the entire school environment.
We empower adult males through our responsible fatherhood initiative.  We meet once a month with dads for a breakfast and we use a proven curriculum called All Pro Dad.  All Pro Dad is an initiative by Family First.  This innovative and unique program is for every father.  We strive to helpfathers become passionate about their role in their family’s life.  We strive daily to provide them every resource needed to rightly train up their children and give them a hopeful future.  Our aim is to interlock the hearts of the fathers with their children and as a byproduct the hearts of the children to their dads.Friday is Tie Day youth movement - Friday is Tie Day was started with the intention of empowering young men. So much of popular culture teaches our young people to be rude, arrogant, and disrespectful. It is our intention to "buck the culture" and start something new (or revive something old). “We conduct monthly workshops for the participants. These workshops center primarily around college readiness, life skills, goal setting, decision making and other lessons that are important for young men to learn in order to transition into successful adults.”

FATHERHOOD - We strive to help fathers become passionate about their role in their family’s life.

For our Dads’ group we would like to partner with All Pro Dad. All Pro Dad is an initiative by Family First. This innovative and unique program is for every father. We strive to help fathers become passionate about their role in their family’s life. We strive daily to provide them every resource needed to rightly train up their children and give them a hopeful future. Our aim is to interlock the hearts of the fathers with their children and as a byproduct the hearts of the children to their dads. Some of the components of All Pro Dad are: Play of the Day, All Pro Dad’s Days, NFL Father & Kids Experience, NFL Spokesmen.

Our monthly All Pro Dad breakfasts have been thriving at the Joseph C. Shaner Memorial School.  We meet before school with fathers and their child/children for a light breakfast and group lesson.  Each month starts with a short introductory video to act as a discussion prompt.  The dads and kids are then guided through a discussion card with questions for both to interact with one another.  At the end of each breakfast is a Father Time Challenge that gives the dads and kids a challenge to complete before the next meeting.  Each year in June we also sponsor a pre-Father's Day event with International House of Cuts Barbershop called Fatherhood Buzz.  Fatherhood Buzz is a federal initiative.  Neighborhood barbershops are a trusted space to discuss personal and public issues, ranging from family to politics, health, money, and other life issues. Fatherhood Buzz is an effort to increase awareness around responsible fatherhood and parenting issues, and increase families access to support through local barbershops throughout the country.
