Catholic Charities Diocese of Camden - Atlantic County

The right of access to basic human needs – nutritious food, clothing, and shelter – has been a foundational element of our mission from our founding in 1936 through to today. We believe that by providing for these needs we preserve each individual’s God-given human dignity.

Our current basic needs services include:

Our Services

Non-Discrimination Policy: The services offered through Catholic Charities Family and Community Services Centers are available to all, regardless of religious denomination, race, gender, or immigration status.

Employment & Assistance Services
Catholic Charities Employment Services & Assistance Program was created to assist the citizens of Atlantic City to find employment by way of referrals, job readiness training, workshops, and job placement. Catholic Charities provides assistance to clients by identifying transferable skills and areas in need of training to determine the best match for employment.

Thrift Store
All proceeds from the thrift store are used to provide further services to our clients.

Hours:
Mondays 9:30 am to 12:00 pm—Adult Clothing
Wednesdays 9:30 am to 12:00 pm—Children’s Clothing & Household Items

Baby Supplies
Donations of newborn baby supplies provided to mothers in need: baby clothes, furniture, car seats, cribs, books, diapers, and wipes. available Call to schedule an appointment.

Food Pantry
By appointment only. Contact Adam Fishman, extension 12.
Our pantry is always in need of donations!

Plates for Christ
Frozen meals are given to families in need. Call extension 12 to schedule a pickup or for details about donating.

SNAP (Food Stamps) Enrollment and Nutrition Education
Contact us to learn more about our nutrition education program or schedule an appointment to enroll for SNAP benefits.

Utility and Rental Assistance
Catholic Charities provides utilities and/or rental assistance to relieve a temporary financial crisis or to prevent homelessness. Contact us to see if funds are currently available and to schedule an appointment to determine eligibility. Contact Matthew Barasch or Aimee Brown for an appointment. (Must be a resident of Atlantic County)

Homeless Ministry
Change of clothing and a sandwich is provided on the 2nd 3rd and 4th Friday of each month from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

Immigration Services
Providing BIA-certified, low-cost immigration legal services to those who are unable to afford the services of a private lawyer. By appointment only. Contact us for hours and to schedule. Visit the immigration services webpage for more details and contact information.

Atlantic City Casino Clothing Disaster Response
Call our hotline if you have been affected by the casino closings in Atlantic City and are in need of financial assistance: 856-342-4145

Veteran Services
Assistance for veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Case management services, information, and referrals. Call the representative for your county for information and to determine eligibility. Contact information by county is available on the Veteran Services webpage.

Asset Development
Open a matched savings account towards the costs of purchasing a home, starting a business, or furthering education. Financial coaching and education provided.

Prison Ministry
Prison ministry volunteers are needed to serve in area prisons and jails. Catholic Charities can provide resources and referral services to the recently released. Contact the Prison Ministry Coordinator for more details: 856-342-4106
