Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties

Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties is a multi-service family counseling agency dedicated to promoting, strengthening, and preserving individual, family, and community well-being in a manner consistent with Jewish philosophy and values.

JFS provides services to help strengthen families and children/youth to assist them in developing the skills to handle everyday stresses as well as more significant challenges.

Autistic Spectrum Services
Project AWARE provides community education about Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD), a limited number of no or low-cost evaluations, and support for families with children who are newly diagnosed with ASDs. Project Aware is funded by United Way of Atlantic County and targets young children from minority families and uninsured and underinsured families in Atlantic County. Project AWARE works to increase awareness of autism and related disorders. It is funded by United Way and provides:

  • Community Education
  • Evaluation
  • Short-term case management

Functional Family Therapy (FFT)
FFT is an empirically grounded and highly successful family intervention for at-risk youth whose problems range from acting out to conduct disorders. This program is funded through the Children's System of Care and runs in partnership with Cape Counseling Behavioral Healthcare services. FFT is an evidence-based family intervention program for dysfunctional youth ages 11-18 who either are court-involved or at risk for court involvement.

Child and Adolescent Counseling offers a variety of outpatient therapeutic services provided by experienced child and adolescent therapists.

The Specialty Center for Youth Interventions provides assistance to children and their families so they will successfully meet a child’s challenges. State-of-the-art, evidenced-based interventions are provided by a team of experts, specially trained to work with youth and their families. The first approach, Parent Management Training (PMT)is designed for children ages 3-14 years old. This program was developed as a result of common behavior problems such as temper tantrums and refusal to do chores or severe aggression. Sessions are held with the parent(s)/caregiver and youth and when necessary, siblings are included. PMT generally requires 12-16 meetings.

FAST Team
JFS provides case management to families with open cases with the Division of Children’s protection and Permanency. Services include helping families learn budgeting, household management, and basic parenting skills, as well as linkages to services. This program is available by DYFS referral only.

The Rothenberg Center for Family Life
The Rothenberg Center for Family Life at Jewish Family Service is a family life education and resource center offering skill-based programs to support the physical, emotional, and relational health of individuals and families. 

Parenting/Character Education Programs
Experienced staff utilizes their training in child and human development to provide effective parenting programs, skills development training for educators and athletic coaches as well as programs for adolescents.

Health & Wellness Programming
JFS presents relevant wellness workshops to help individuals sustain healthy and vibrant lives.

Advance Your Health Program
In partnership with the Horizon Foundation of New Jersey, JFS offers the Advance Your Health Program to help community members connect with healthcare providers and valuable health and wellness resources. Program services include assistance navigating the healthcare system, patient advocacy, tools for communicating with care providers, and strategies for managing chronic conditions.

Women's Health Network
Through a partnership with Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey, JFS has established the Women's Health Network to educate women about breast health and the importance of annual breast screenings. The program offers assistance connecting with care providers, appointment scheduling, and linkages to the mobile mammography van and other screening facilities. The Network is dedicated to teaching health awareness, offering wellness practices, and providing a feeling of connection to a caring community. 

Personal Parent Support
JFS offers personalized services to help individuals sort out a specific issue or problem get clarification or discover a new insight to strengthen relationships.

Economic Recovery Center (ERC)
Economic Response Center is a confidential resource designed to help individuals gain financial literacy and achieve economic self-sufficiency during these tough economic times.
