Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ)

Community FoodBank of New Jersey's mission is to fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need and seeking long-term solutions.  We will engage, educate, and empower all sectors of society in the battle.

We fill the emptiness caused by hunger with FOOD, HELP, and HOPE.

For our neighbors, especially families and for the volunteers and donors who support them, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) is the powerful change agent that fills the emptiness caused by hunger with the basic human essentials that people need to survive.

Food & Nutrition Programs
We provide food for people in need while striving to end hunger in our state. We do this by working with a large network of more than one thousand community partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters, to bring food to our food insecure neighbors.

While food distribution is central to our mission, we also lead a number of important programs aimed at addressing the root causes of hunger for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Federal Nutrition Program
Our SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) Outreach Program provides information, pre-screening, and application assistance to help ensure that every family eligible for benefits receives them.

Food Service Training Academy
Aligned with our mission to break the cycle of hunger and poverty in New Jersey, our free 15-week culinary job-training program provides graduates with marketable skills and changes lives.

Hygiene Programs
Families that struggle to afford food often lack access to hygiene supplies, as well. We work with our network of community partners to provide these essential supplies, such as diapers and period products, on a monthly basis to help our neighbors be healthy and active.

South Jersey Programs
Our location in Egg Harbor Township works to alleviate hunger through an array of feeding programs and collaborations with more than 300 community partners.

On-Site Pantry
Our 29,000-square-foot facility is home to a food pantry that provides food to individuals and families living in South Jersey communities without access to pantry services. Clients make appointments to come in and “shop” for food that meets their needs.

Mobile Pantries
Our Mobile Pantry Program brings food to areas where there are not enough food pantries and soup kitchens to meet the need.

Kids Cafes
We fill the nutrition gap for food-insecure kids by providing nourishing after-school meals every day so they don’t go home to sleep on empty stomachs. The program includes a nutrition education component aimed at teaching students about well-balanced diets.

Summer Nutrition
For kids who receive free or reduced-price school meals and after-school dinners at our Kid's Cafes, summer vacation can mean an end to knowing for sure when they will eat again. In order to bridge the gap, we serve breakfast and lunch to children in need at sites across the state — including Boys & Girls Clubs, recreation centers & libraries — through the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

School Pantries
We work with schools in high-need districts to provide on-site pantries for families. In a safe environment, parents and children pick up nutritious food so they don’t go hungry.

AtlantiCare Pantry at the Plex
In partnership with AtlantiCare, we founded the Pantry at the Plex. The facility in Atlantic City is just one more way we address hunger as a health issue. Families in need receive medical screenings, healthy food, and nutrition education so they can lead happy and healthy lives.
